After a spring of being quarantined, you and your family are likely ready to get out and enjoy the outdoors and everything our city has to offer. The fact that we are still amidst COVID times doesn’t mean that dream has to be abandoned entirely; outings are still possible this summer, and here are our top suggestions.

Kayaking

Kayak Pittsburgh recently opened and is ready to help you enjoy the great outdoors. The already socially distanced nature of kayaking coupled with new safety procedures will have you paddling your way to adventure in no time.

Kennywood

Though your adventure will look a little different this year, you can still find summer fun and thrills at Kennywood. The season starts for Friends & Family on July 6th, season passholders July 7-10, and Opening Day for the public on July 11th. You’ll need to register for your visit, wear a facial covering, and have your temperature taken as you enter, but then let the fun begin! Check out Kennywood’s site for more information.

Spray Parks

Whether you’re looking for a cool mist or chilly shower, the spray parks are one of the best ways for kids of all ages to beat the heat. Run through tunnels, soak a friend with a spray tube, or enjoy a gentle drizzle on these playgrounds equipped with motion sensors. Since no swimming is required, even the littlest family members can enjoy! Check out park locations and then head out with the kids to cool off.

Drive-in

A good old-fashioned drive-in movie is a summer pastime you can thankfully still enjoy. The Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park series, which is showing movies at varying outdoor locations through August, is the perfect evening outing. Look forward to movies such as “Men in Black: International” on July 25, “The Mighty Ducks” on August 8, and “Charlie’s Angels” on August 22. Reservations are required, so be sure to check for more info

Strawberry Picking

Summer and strawberries go hand in hand, and though strawberry festivals may be cancelled for the year, you can still get out in the fields and experience the fun of picking your own produce. Check out all your location, time, and safety details here

With these options at the ready, you’ll be able to enjoy Pittsburgh all summer long. And if moving is one of the activities you’ve got on your summertime schedule, be sure to contact George Moving and Relocation.
